Today is the day I got my new website online. I changed the site to give more emphasis to the artwork. I am going to post paintings on my blog as I do them, and explain where I was and what I felt about the painting. I'm going to start with the last two I did. They were painted two weeks ago at Plum Point Beach in New Windsor. The first one, Pylons at Plum Point (above) was done in bright sun. When I got home and in normal light, I was amazed that it was very dark. I guess that is because of the blaring glare from the sun. I did lighten it a bit at home. The second, which is going up in the Wallkill River Art Gallery as I write, was done from a piece that I started on the beach with palette knife. It was very cloudy with a few breaks in the clouds, then it looked like it would rain, then it partially cleared then it clouded over completely. At any rate, I remembered the scene when I first saw it and finished this painting at home....with a brush!
